PLP locker doors have varying applications such as mainstream coach luggage panels or equipment locker doors housing batteries etc.

Typically the mainstream coach product incorporates not only the hinged panels but also those that are fixed in place such as the air in-take grilles and wheelarches.

The basic panel construction uses aluminium extrusions welded together to form a rigid framework that is bonded to an aluminium sheet using a structural adhesive. The aluminium sheet is punched to create fuel filler and lighting apertures and is sheared to the finished size internally within PLP using modern sheet metal fabrication equipment.

The completed panels can be either flat or profiled to suit the vehicle body.

A wet paint process can also be applied to the interior of the panels to aid overall weather proofing in this section of the vehicle. Finally locks and gas stays can be pre-mounted to the locker doors thus reducing the installation time simply to hanging the doors.

As well as traditional hinging of locker doors along the top horizontal edge, PLP can supply a manual paralift arrangement for applications where space may be limited to the side of the vehicle or with suitable mounting points to interface with a powered mechanism. A robust steel framework is mounted to the aluminium panel with appropriate adjustment both laterally and vertically.

Simpler equipment locker doors take advantage of being a cassette concept whereby a hinged inner leaf is pre-mounted by PLP to an outer frame. This gives the benefit of reduced installation time of the whole assembly to the vehicle as the lock and appropriate fittings are pre-fitted by PLP.

The hinged leaf is framed by an aluminium extrusion thus varying thicknesses of panels can be accommodated e.g. aluminium sheet, composite panel etc.

Either supplied in a mill finish condition for painting on the vehicle or pre-polyester powder coated by PLP, the locker door offers excellent value for money with longevity of life.
