A typical tailgate construction consists of a jointed aluminium inner frame encapsulating toughened glass, or round bars should an animal tailgate be required, complete with hinges and locking mechanism. An optional outer frame can also be supplied depending upon the construction of the aperture. The aluminium framework is fabricated from purpose designed extrusions either mitred or radius cornered and powder coated to provide anti-corrosion properties and improved aesthetics. The hinges are also purpose designed to be robust in their construction thus providing longevity of life. The locking mechanism is operated via a 90 degree rotational handle that is key lockable to provide a level of security. Finally, gas stay brackets are mounted to the interior of the framework so as to give assistance for weight management when opening and closing the tailgate.
